incarnation

According to the “World Book Dictionary,” the definition of the verb incarnate is “to embody; to put into an actual form; realize.” The “Doubleday Dictionary” defines it as “to give bodily form to.” The idea is to bring a person, a trait, or a truth to life. The principle of incarnation applies not only to Christ, but to every Christian. God chose to reveal Himself through the life of Jesus Christ. He also intends to bring His character “to life” through the godly lives of Christians (John 17:18; 2 Corinthians 4:7, 10)!

Application of the Incarnation for our lives:
** Incarnation demands godly conduct – to continue in sin is a contradiction to the character of God and a gross misrepresentation of God!
** Incarnation means taking the Word of God seriously – it’s more than accumulating knowledge about the Bible, it’s putting it into practice! (James 1:22)
** The Incarnation Is Truly Miraculous – there’s only one way that we can demonstrate the character of God in our lives and that is by keeping in step with the Holy Spirit that dwells within all Christians!

Just before Jesus was arrested and then died on the cross, He said: “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” (NIV John 17:18)

May the incarnate Christ shine brightly through you so that others will experience the life of Christ through you!
